I’m a nerd, always have been. I’ve felt an itch to play with server-type technologies without risk of breaking the “server that other people use stuff on” server, so I got myself a cheapo VPS (Virtual Private Server) instance. Very low cost, low spec, low quality of tech support, but if I manage to wreck it in a festival of incompetence it Does Not Matter To Anyone Else. It’s not even where this website lives.
There’s no link to that server from this site because there’s not currently anything there that merits public interest. It’s the internet equivalent of young-me having a box of Lego Technic (the old-type stuff from the 90s) where I fiddle with gears and mechanisms.
I’m doing things in a Docker-based way on that other server, because that’s one of the modern-ish technologies that I really wanted to get a bit more experience with.
As part of this whole general “thing”, some specific results / outcomes / learnings merit a “proper” web page of their own:
BTR Free Player – A basic web browser player for Icecast MP3 internet radio streams.
